The wrought iron Courting Candle Holder captures a true piece of history with its original colonial design and function. Features: Short history of the Courting Candle Holder: In colonial times a young man could come visit with his young lady for as long as it took the courting candle to burn down to the first coil. Traditionally the candle height was adjusted by the father of the lady in question, he would move the candle up or down the coil with a small wooden cork adjusting the amount of time the young man could stay, higher if he liked the young man or lower if he didn't. Measurements: Candle Holder, 6 1/2" long x 5" wide x 6" tall; Drip Pan, 6" x 6" (candle is not included)
