Wrought Iron Fireplace Grates

To enjoy the crackle and warmth of a long-lasting fire, you first need a wrought iron fireplace grate. The grate lifts logs and charcoal off the ground to allow air to circulate underneath and charge up the flames. The wrought iron material means the grate can withstand any degree of heat and the winged shape prevents the fire from spiraling out of control. Grates come in different sizes for clearance and depth.

Wrought Iron Fireplace Grates vs Stainless Steel Grates

There are numerous similarities and differences between wrought iron fireplace grates and stainless steel grates. Both materials can withstand high heat and both are heavy enough to hold up large fires and not move when logs and charcoal suddenly shift. However, wrought iron fireplace grates often have narrower spaces between bars. This is better for keeping coal afloat and helps wood fires burn more efficiently and longer. Wrought iron's dark look also hides burn stains better than the light-colored stainless steel.
